Description
DETAILS:Original concert poster for the benefit of the Soledad Brothers issued by the SB Legal Defense Fund and the Hasting Chapter of the National Lawyers Guild. Circa 1970. The Soledad Brothers were three African-American inmates who helped organize the Black Guerilla Family which was a Black Panther affiliated prisoner activist group. Led by activist George Jackson, they were charged in a racially motivated
murder of a white prison guard during the Vietnam War era. The trial of the inmates galvanized the African American community throughout the United States but particularly so in the San Francisco area with the Black Panther Party taking the lead. This poster is for a concert and dance organized by Hastings College of Law. Wonderful example of the musical renaissance and social revolution in San Francisco. Measures 17" x 11" inches. Rare.
