rare, early, all black
Curta Type II
high precision mechanical calculator
of finest workmanship
(first pocket calculator)
looking like a small metal pepper mill
or coffee grinder
This Curta early type II calculator with low serial
number "50
3215
" is an exceptional piece.
Having been made in may 1954, in the early days of production of the Type II series,
which started with sn #500.000 in the year 1953.
Only about 10% of the earlier Type II's were all black like the Type I's
and not many of them survived. The grey barrel and the red keys came later.
This variation was only produced for a short period.
This Curta calculator is in excellent optical and perfect working state.

function perfectly, smoothly and crisp.
It operates correctly in every way
even with negative crank turns,
the ten-carrying mechanism works correctly
in every position of the carriage.
I performed the testing procedures outlined on the curta.org website
and everything is how it is expected.
This curta calculator shows only little signs of usage as shown on the pictures.
This Curta calculator is an early, all metal type II without any plastic parts,
means this Curta contains only metal parts,
also the crank and clearing lever are made of metal.
Later on, in the mid 1960s, the Type II were only supplied
with plastic cranks and plastic clearing levers.
This Curta comes as a complete set like it was sold
in the fifties from curta dealers.
