Description

Welcome to Pioneer Fossils!
A photo Certificate of Authenticityw ill accompany this specimen.  Plus a stand.
Here is a genuine fossil plate from the world-famous fossil beds of Fossil Lake, Green River Formation, Wyoming. From the Eocene, 52 million years ago.  They are Knightia eocaena, the State Fossil of Wyoming (Remember, T-Rex has also been found in Wyoming!).
There are 3 complete Knightia eocaena fish fossils on the plate, as well as nearly a 4th fish.  All have been tinted for better presentation.  Each fish is between 3.5 inches and 4.5 inches. The plate is about 9.5" by 4", and it weighs 1 lb. 7.1 oz. The back is about 11 mm. thick.  If you display it on the enclosed stand, it should last for a very long time.

COMBINED SHIPPING:  We make every effort to combine shipping costs and we refund any overpayment back to you, on the same day we ship the item.  We have given hundreds of partial refunds for combined shipping savings.  We will do our best to combine purchases to save shipping costs. In some cases, that is easy, in some cases, not so much.  Our items are of vastly different sizes and weights, but we never use shipping as a profit center.  We would rather refund the shipping overpayment back to you, and have a happy buyer.
We are happy to enclose a COA (Certificate of Authenticity).  Some words of caution about COA’s: Do not let them become a substitute for learning about the specimens. We have been working with fossils and minerals for many years, and we have seen hundreds of very nice-looking COA’s, some that are wrong, mis-describing a specimen. In addition, the person selling the item is often the one who writes the COA (potential conflict of interest). Finally, a COA, without a photo of the exact specimen on the COA itself,  is worthless, as it can later be placed next to any other fossil or mineral.  We suggest that in addition to relying on a COA, that people read and study the subject.
