Description

Welcome to Pioneer Fossils!
A photo Certificate of Authenticity will accompany this item.
Here is a large fossil plant from the world-famous fossil beds of Fossil Lake, Green River Formation, Wyoming. From the Eocene, 52 million years ago.
From the sandwich beds of Fossil Lake, this is a partial fossil Palm frond with beautiful, natural dark color variations. A section of a larger piece that includes part of the petiole (the stalk that joins the leaf to the stem).
Unpainted, t
his is a rare example, as only a small percentage of palms are completely natural with no paint.
The plate measures approximately 21 1/2" x 11.3" and weighs 9 lbs. 10 oz.
A lovely display piece that would be a great addition to any fossil collection.

COMBINED SHIPPING:  We make every effort to combine shipping costs and we refund any overpayment back to you, on the same day we ship the item.  We have given hundreds of partial refunds for combined shipping savings.  We will do our best to combine purchases to save shipping costs. In some cases, that is easy, in some cases, not as much.  Our items are of vastly different sizes and weights, but we never use shipping as a profit center.  We would rather refund the shipping overpayment back to you, and have a happy buyer.
We are happy to enclose a COA (Certificate of Authenticity).  Some words of caution about COA's: Do not let them become a substitute for learning about the specimens. We have been working with fossils and minerals for many years, and we have seen hundreds of very nice-looking COA's, some that are wrong, mis-describing a specimen. In addition, the person selling the item is often the one who writes the COA (potential conflict of interest). Finally, a COA, without a photo of the exact item on the COA itself, is worthless, as it can later be placed next to any other fossil or mineral.  We suggest that in addition to relying on a COA, that people read and study the subject.
