    Description

    Here we have an
Original Antique British Military, 3 Draw, Brass & Leather, Nautical Spyglass Telescope 30"L.
I see no maker's name but it is stamped on the first draw with S.2   206 and the British Broad Arrow Logo.  This logo is also stamped on the leather wrapped main barrel.  (The Broad Arrow is the most recognizable British (and Commonwealth) military mark and easily the most frequently encountered. It is a stylized representation of a metal arrowhead, comprising a tang and two barbs meeting at a point. It is a symbol used traditionally in heraldry, most notably in England, and later by the British government to mark government property. It became particularly associated with the Board of Ordnance, and later the War Department and the Ministry of Defense.)  This therefore means that this spyglass was probably made under contract (by a British Co.) for the British government.  The instrument is in very good used condition with a nice aged patina.  The optics are very good with nice clear viewing and focusing. There are no scratches or cracks in the lenses. The leather wrap is in in good condition with a small nick out of one side and the stitching starting to give way in a short section (see pics)  The is a small dent on the edge of the eyepiece.   The instrument is approx. 10" long in the closed position and the main body is approx. 2" in diameter.
