    Description

6-Draw Antique Telescope in Excellent Functional Condition
This old brass spyglass probably dates from the late 1880s, appears to be in original condition and is complete except for loss of the objective cap and a main tube cover.  The sunshield and draws move smoothly, although the largest draw requires more than optimal force (sticky draws cause of breakage). The dating is based on the square cut observed at the base of the slot where the pin of the swivel cover retracts in the lens cap when the scope is open (pic 2, soon).
The telescope has good optics that work almost as well as they did on the day the telescope was made. It forms a clear sharp image when focused by moving the second smallest draw tubes to the appropriate position (with smallest tube fully drawn). Many scopes of this type label the second smallest tube the adjusting tube. The large objective lens has a few very thin scratches that are without significant effect on the optics. If such things could be photographed, the perfectly round interference pattern created by the junction of the two glass half lenses in the objective would have been presented.
The scope is about 6 inches long when folded, almost 24 inches long when extended and has an objective lens with a diameter of about 1 3/8 inch. It can be dissembled for cleaning if that should become necessary. Be sure to examine the images as they form an important part of the description.
Although shipping is listed as economy, items will generally be shipped priority if costs are comparable.   I will consider sending the telescope to restricted countries if a buyer seems responsible and assumes shipping risks.
