    Description

These two similar 10¾" x 7¼" Flannel Coats of Arms respectively represent the Kingdom of The Netherland and The Kingdom of Roumania [Romania].  These Flannels were created to promote tobacco sales, circa 1910.
KINGDOM OF ROUMANIA - This Coat of Arms motto translates from Latin "NIHIL SINE DEO" to English:  "NOTHING WITHOUT GOD."
KINGDOM OF NETHERLAND - This Coat of Arms motto translates from French "JE MAINTIENDRAI" to English: "I WILL MAINTAIN".
These flannels were created by American Tobacco companies and inserted into cigarette and cigar boxes as promotions to encourage interest and sales.  Literally thousands of patterns and designs, in a big variety of sizes, were created for this purpose during the first and second decade of the 20th Century.
